When browsing My Collection, the manufacturer dropdown now only lists manufacturers represented in your collection. Your previous manufacturer selection is remembered when switching back to browsing all modules.
You can now remove Marketplace notifications directly from your profile without reloading the page. Click the trash icon to stop watching a module.
When selecting your own collection, the search filter should only contain the manufacturers of the modules that you have added to your collection rather than the full list of all manufacturers. Having a more defined collection sort vs. entire library would make sense.
The Image Editor now has two new tools for modules and pedals:
Optimize Image Quality automatically adjusts white balance and contrast to improve poorly lit photos.
Remove Background removes solid backgrounds, with a live preview and a Tolerance slider for fine-tuning. Especially useful for pedal photos, it also works with modules.
Both work alongside cropping. Preview your changes, click Apply, then Save to keep them.
The internet is on fire today because of these PHP vulnerabilities. Thanks to Ondřej Surý, I’ve already patched the ModularGrid server, so we should be safe to continue our search for the best VCF.
Pulp Logic and Intellijel 1U modules now display their full panels with correct proportions, without awkward cropping.
Want to crop an image yourself? Use Crop Panel Image when adding or editing a module, then Apply and Save.
Linked 3U modules with a combined width of up to 6HP can now rotate together and fit into a 26HP adapter in a 1U row.
Hover over a module in the group and use the flip button, or press F while keyboard shortcuts are enabled. The whole block rotates together, keeping the module order and relative panel orientations intact. It also stays linked when using Optimize Rack Space.
After rotating, drag the group into a 1U row. If you reload before placing it, the group will be waiting on the workbench.
To unlink or delete a member, rotate the group back upright first.
You can undo module moves, additions, duplications and deletions, including movements involving linked modules or Fuzzy Swap.
Optimize Rack Space can also be undone, so experimenting with a different layout is a little less adventurous.
Find Undo and Redo at the top of the Edit menu, or press U to undo and Shift + U to redo while keyboard shortcuts are enabled. Multiple steps are supported.
The history is kept for your current tab and resets when you reload the page. It covers module placement changes, not every rack setting.
Would it be possible to have a message pop up when we are about to list a module for sale and MG detects that we're connected via a VPN network?
The check is not instantly, it takes a couple of minutes, so the messages popup won't work as expected. But you're right, at least it should be better explained ...
Another solution could be to offer profile verification to users in order to obtain a verified status/checkmark
The problem we had in the past was that user accounts with weak passwords got hacked. In such cases the verified checkbox would be counterproductive. We are experimenting with a trustscore system, but, like the voting system, that will lead to a new level of drama, Mr. 78/100.
verifying the details of anyone with a Unicorn account,
Also good idea but won't fix the problem with hacked accounts. We might have keypasses for the offer section at some point.
A quick workaround: if you click edit on one of your offers and save with or without changing anything, the VPN check will run again.
For those unaware, spoofed emails can be very convincing and taken for legitimate without you knowing it was spoofed. Spoofed addresses can be made identical to official MG addresses on the surface.
We are using DMARC signed emails. Most emails servers will not deliver spoofed MG emails. Or at least send them to SPAM.
Another thing I strongly advise anyone who received a phishing email from MG, is to check if your email address has been exposed in a data leak.
-- toptier
There was no leak. It's like @pibou said: someone just registered new accounts with username "SystemAlertX" and tried to automate the sending of phishing mails with the MG messenger. We have a limitation of 3 messages per user/hour. This is not to upsell unicorn accounts but to prevent the spammers from spamming to all users. Those of you who got the phishing mail are lucky winners, so to speak.
I do what is reasonable to fight scammers, but at some point security becomes a prison. Nobody wants to fill out a CAPTCHA for every message they want to send, and I think it would be quite excessive to require users to provide IDs or phone numbers just so they can use a modular planner...
Received message below from account SystemAlert15 created today
SystemAlert1, SystemAlert2 to SystemAlert15 wrote the same message.
This is a phishing attempt. It has of course nothing to do with ModularGrid. Do not click any links!
I have suspended all scam accounts, deleted the messages and contacted all users that were targetted.
We have a hourly limit of how many messages you can send as spam bot protection. Just wait a bit or get the Unicorn account which does not have that limit.
Did you check whether the seller had any recent successful transactions or feedback
Yeah, this is the first degree to get an actual point of view, esp. these days where scammers try hard to... ..well, scam people.
-- -ADR-
The irony: the user "thomasfrank" you responded to was a forum spammer himself. Account deleted.
I have suspended the suspected scam account @malexito.
[Moderator]
I have removed a lengthy discussion that turned ugly.
Summary: @-ADR-, @aslak1 and @beat4less had a heated argument about buying modules using PayPal Friends & Family. This escalated into name-calling, but this personal dispute stops here. No more insults, intimidation, or sharing of personal information. Use the “Block User” function and remember why you got into modular in the first place.
Reverb uses Cloudflare and for reason I don't know the Cloudflare firewall blocks the Modulargrid server from time to time. I wrote them a message but did not get a response yet.
Thanks, just add "duplicate" to the module name, don't unassign the manufacturer name else I will have problems to merge the racks that contain the module.
You can now search for modules by maximum depth. This is useful when planning a shallow skiff. Module depth is now also displayed alongside HP in the module search results.
Adjacent modules can now be linked into a single block and moved together. Linked blocks stay connected when using Optimize Rack Space!
Finally your expander modules stay in place!
Since scammers continue to target users on the Marketplace, I have added another layer of security: a VPN check.
Not every VPN user is a scammer, but every scammer uses a VPN. From now on, when a user creates or edits an offer, we check whether the connection is being made through a VPN and display the result on the offer. I think it's fair that other users should have access to this information.
The VPN check is only an indicator and may not always be accurate.
You can now filter modules using the Show only passive checkbox. This will show modules that do not draw power from the power rail, such as mults and power supplies.
In the Messages inbox and outbox, in the right-column action menu, there is now a funnel icon that filters messages from the selected user.
Offers VPN check
Since scammers continue to target users on the Marketplace, I have added another layer of security: a VPN check.
Not every VPN user is a scammer, but virtually every scammer uses a VPN. From now on, when a user creates or edits an offer, we check whether the connection is being made through a VPN and display the result on the offer. I think it's fair that other users should have access to this information.
The VPN check is only an indicator and may not always be accurate.
This one is under the hood, but a necessary preparation for upcoming AI bot spam.
We now have an internal scoring system.
This means that new users can no longer add or modify public modules.
They can still upload private modules for their own use.
They cannot post in forums or create offers.
I am sure there will be issues, so if anyone thinks the system is too restrictive, PM me.
it would be great to have a "cancel” (X) in Manufacturer search box (just like in the Name search box) instead of having to scroll all the way back to the top. Or am I missing some shortcut?
-- bitstream
When the manufacturer dropdown is focused, you can simply press ‘-’ on your keyboard to reset the selection. You can also type any other letter to jump to a manufacturer. This is a standard browser feature that should work on other websites as well.
I deleted 600+ bot profiles that created racks only to link them to sketchy website. All those racks are gone too.
A serious setback for the Philippine escort scene and Dutch scam casinos.
Rackommend to Markdown
There is a button on the bottom of the rackkommend stat table to copy the table in markdown format to the copy buffer.
Reddit r/modular will not be the same anymore.
The message in- and outboxes now have a basic user filter. If you filter for a user and click through to the detail message, you can navigate prev and next in the user correspondence.
We’ve now introduced an allowlist of the most common websites that can be linked in private messages. As a result, it should no longer be possible to include links to phishing sites.
This is admittedly a rather drastic measure, as the allowlist certainly won’t cover every legitimate website. However, we believe it’s a better approach than trying to maintain a denylist, which can never keep up with newly created phishing domains.
Unicorn users are currently exempt from this restriction because their accounts are not anonymous.
If a URL is blocked that you think should be allowed, please let me know via PM or at info@modulargrid.net so I can add it to the allowlist.
We are still being targeted by scammers who use the ModularGrid messenger to send phishing messages to users.

With the new Rackommend feature, you can view a breakdown of the functions in your rack - such as VCAs, oscillators, and filters - and get recommendations for modules that fill in missing functionality or that one empty slot.
Rackommend suggests suitable modules based on the ones already in your rack. Simply click a function tag to start a matching search. Most of the search settings are preserved, so you can, for example, limit recommendations to a specific manufacturer. The brave can skip straight to the Add a Module button.
To create the Meta ModularGrid Rack, we analyzed the distribution of module types across all ModularGrid racks. Rackommend compares your rack against this statistical meta rack and highlights which functions are over- or underrepresented. You can then add a suitable module that fills the gap while also fitting the available width.
Take it with a grain of salt, of course - and build whatever makes you happy.
No AI. Just statistics.
Because this feature is computationally expensive, it is available exclusively to Unicorn users.
Following the recent phishing attemps, we have strengthened our anti-phishing measures.
It is no longer possible to register accounts with usernames such as “Support” or similar variations. In addition, private messages are now checked for suspicious links.
ive just had a message about an iyrm fro sale form a user 'support23" with a link yo end bank details, thr user has recently joined, no feedback, beware!
-- Gint
Currently someone is sending fishing mails from several new accounts like support, modulargridsupport and such. I suspend them all. Don't click on the links, obvious scam!
I'm unable to save profile settings due to having a three-character username . I've used this name on this platform since the very beginning. Can the minimum username length be adjusted? I'd just like to save my settings.
-- jvt
You can now rotate Eurorack modules 90° so they will fit in a 1U row! This works only for modules up to 6 HP.
You can still drag them around and also Optimize Rack Space continues to work.
Use the Rotate Button in the planner action menu. If you don't see that button check, that it is activated in your user preferences or use keyboard shortcut f for flip.
