hello people,

I've been on modular grid for many many years, but this is my first forum post.

I'm looking for a 303 type slew limiter for my acid beast case.
I know of the ADDAC 209, but are there any other?

Best R2D2.

Hi, I'm not sure what a 303 specific slew limiter would be like, but for slew limitation I use and like the Schlappi Engineering Boundary. Maths can also do it.

On the Boundary you would go v/oct into SLEW and then send a trigger to RISE on notes you want to slide to lengthen the attack phase.

WMD makes the Time Warp. Should get you pretty close.

Hoi Stef,

When going from one note to the next, a 303 type slew limiter uses the same time no matter how far apart the notes are.

It seems to me that the Boundary and Masths can't do that. They are normal slew limiters.

Hello Farkas,

Yes, this can do it.
And there are 2 of them.

Are the more?

I was able to do it today with a second module to manipulate the rise time based on pitch. But I understand now why you'd want a module for this. Thanks for sharing.

Hoi Stef,

I've been thinking about this.

The larger the note difference the faster the slew.
So you need to subtract the 2 note values.
That gives a problem, because you can get a negative value.
To make all these values positive, you need to multiply that signal with itself.
A^2 (a squared) is alway's positive.
You can do that with a DC coupled ringmodulator.

On top of that you need to store the first note value, or else you can't subtract the second note value, this can be done with a analog shift register.

So you need at least 3 extra modules and a CV controled slew limiter.
1 a bipolar mixer for the subtraction.
2 a DC coupled ringmodulator.
3 a shift register.
4 a CV controled slew limiter.

It get's complicated fast.

Hoi,

First of all, as I mentioned, I understand why you'd not want to do it the complicated way. I'm treating it like an experiment to see if I can learn what a module does.

Here's what I used

1 a bipolar mixer for the subtraction Triplatt
2 a DC coupled ringmodulator. Boundary
3 a shift register. Maybe I'm wrong here, but I added an offset and treated that as zero point.
4 a CV controled slew limiter. Boundary

Hoi Stef,

That's exactly what I've come up with.

Here I've not added cv control for the slew, but that's trivial.

But that stil leaves only 2 modules that can do 303 type slew.

The ADDAC 209 and WMD Time Warp.
