Slow Chaotic Modulation

Analog Chaos is a voltage-controlled jerk chaos CV generator in a compact 2HP Eurorack format.

Feedback within its analog circuitry produces behavior that is deterministic yet irregular, adding fluctuations to your patch that feel unpredictable while retaining a sense of continuity.

Three CV outputs—X, Y, and Z—provide distinct but interrelated signals. Modulate multiple parameters simultaneously to create complex, connected movement throughout your patch.

The Rate knob and external CV input control the speed of these changes, covering a range from ultra-slow movement to LFO rates. From gradually evolving timbres to irregular swells, Analog Chaos offers a wide range of modulation possibilities.

Four trimmers on the circuit board let you adjust the character of the movement:

• Damp: Adjusts the strength of the feedback that damps oscillation, influencing how vigorously the circuit moves and how its motion settles.
• Gain: Adjusts the gain of the feedback loop that generates chaos, shaping the circuit’s behavior rather than directly setting the output level.
• Mod: Adjusts an internal DC bias, shifting the circuit’s operating point to change the balance and character of its fluctuations.
• NL Drive: Adjusts the strength of the nonlinear feedback through the diodes, influencing how the waveform bends and how irregular movement develops.

These controls interact with one another. Depending on their settings, the circuit can move between chaotic fluctuations, periodic oscillation, and a settled state.
