Kick Bass Drum Eurorack Modular Synthesizer

The sound of this synthesizer is generated using mathematical algorithms and then shaped and modulated by analog filters. The result is a bass drum with the distinctive character of the classic drum machines of the past.

The module features simple and intuitive controls. The front panel provides 5 controls and 2 connectors.

The first potentiometer, PITCH, controls the pitch of the kick drum.

The second potentiometer, DECAY, controls the decay time and therefore the length of the drum sound.

The third potentiometer controls the VOLUME. At higher volume settings, a slight amount of limiting is introduced, giving the kick a slightly more aggressive and gritty character.

The fourth control is the TRANS switch, which adjusts the transient, i.e. the initial attack and punch of the drum. Three transient modes are available: Soft, Medium and Strong.

Once the desired transient setting has been selected, the LED indicator changes state and flashes after approximately 5 seconds. This flash indicates that the selected transient setting has been automatically saved.

The selected transient setting is retained even after the system is switched off and powered on again. There is therefore no need to remember and manually restore the preferred setting every time the system is restarted.

In the center of the panel, there is a switch that enables or disables the output at the OUT connector. The status is indicated by an LED above the OUT connector:

LED ON = output active
LED OFF = output disabled

Next to the OUT connector is the TRIGG connector, which is used to connect a trigger signal from a sequencer. The LED next to the TRIGG connector indicates an incoming trigger signal.

The drum can be triggered by either a 5 ms / 5 V pulse or a 5 V gate signal. In both cases, the drum is triggered at the beginning of the pulse or gate signal.
