Stereo effect that runs on a cable
While a cable is in UMBILICAL, it runs clean. Pull the cable out and it's on its reserve: the digits count down, faster the harder it's played, and the sound sags as the reserve runs out. At zero it dies. Sometimes it comes back on its own, roaring, and won't stop until it decides to.
TIME sets how long a full reserve lasts, 10 seconds to 10 minutes; silence costs nothing and a loud input drains it five times as fast. SAG sets how the sound fails: the pitch falls, a starved fuzz sputters, a low-pass closes. BERSERK is the chance it comes back. Patch a gate into UMBILICAL instead of a cable and the gate is the mains, so a clock makes it breathe. The countdown is lit behind the panel itself, segment by segment.
