EM-201 | Voltage-Controlled Contour Generator
MOON JOCK is a four-stage voltage-controlled contour generator combining precision ADSR envelope shaping, independent stage modulation, and wide-range cycling functionality.
Its architecture employs a cross-coupled NOR-gate latch and high-speed analog switching network, with independent Gate and Trigger comparators ensuring precise, glitch-free stage transitions. Exponential charging and discharging curves are generated through precision logarithmic controls, while a stabilized 10V reference and high-impedance JFET output buffer maintain consistent envelope amplitudes and sustain levels.
Each of the four ADSR stages features an independent CV input, allowing external voltages to dynamically govern Attack, Decay, Sustain, and Release. Three selectable timing ranges extend operation from audio-rate modulation and voltage-controlled LFO cycles to extended envelopes lasting tens of seconds.
Three operating modes further expand its functionality: NORMAL provides conventional gated ADSR behavior; AUTO-REPEAT enables continuous self-cycling; and GATED REPEAT sustains cycling only while the Gate input remains high, transitioning through Release when the gate is removed.
The primary ENV output incorporates a bipolar center-null attenuverter for continuous level adjustment and polarity inversion. A dedicated End-of-Cycle (E.O.C.) pulse output enables synchronized triggering, sequencer clocking, and complex multi-stage contours through interconnected modules.
