Voltage-Starved Boombox VCA

Air Conditioner is an analog VCA channel strip module based partially on the opamp and gain staging found in old boomboxes and cassette multitracks. When driven, it can be described as having an "elastic" type of compression and saturation. Air Conditioner uses the same op-amps found in those machines (circa 1977) — the NJM4558 — while adding a much "hotter" gain stage, OTA CV attenuation, power starving, and an aggressive Lo/Hi EQ stage.

Elder op-amp abuse. Noisy + inelegant... the Air Conditioner is the ultimate form of white goods luxury.
